unsafe at any speed

March 31st, 2009

Yesterday President Obama (yes, he will be referred to as President Obama, we keep it classy in here) took the very logical and precedented next step in his presidency by ousting the CEO of a private corporation and insuring the warrantee on your Chevy Malibu. Call me old fashioned (or just American) but where in Article II of the Constitution does it mention anything about the executive power of bumper to bumper coverage?

Yes I know, President Obama inherited all of this from Bush and his band of crazy Republican free-marketeers (he should probably remind us of this fact every once-in-a-while, although, come to think of it they haven’t run the congress for a few years now, okay there I go again off topic with truth and logic - I tend to do that), but does anyone really think that if Obama were president earlier this recession would have been staved off? No, of course not, however, Bush abandoned his conservative principles, busted open the cookie jar, then left the keys to the candy store to Obama.  The pure genius of the situation is the fact that since Bush started all of this very non conservative out of control spending, Obama and his party get to label it as “conservatism” simply because Bush was labeled as a conservative. So now every liberal gets to say, “uh, we tried it your way and look where it got us”.  They get to falsely contend that Bush’s economic policies were conservative, even though at the time they were all happy to point out that Clinton had a surplus and Bush put us in a lot of debt (somehow conservatively), and to them the logical remedy to fix the consequences of  Bush’s “conservatism” is to put us in an even more, previously unthinkable, ridiculous amount of debt under the motto of “we didn’t start it - ‘conservatism’ did”.

Hmm, a raging fire is burning in front of President Obama; on one side of him is a bucket of water, on the other a bucket of gasoline, and he chooses to throw on the gasoline and say, “hey don’t look at me I didn’t start this fire, if only there was another option”.

The truth is, the last eight years were not dominated by conservative economic policies, sure Republicans may have been at the helm for a period of time, but they were not conservative. And when some Republicans wised up and tried to do something about it Barney Frank and Chris Dodd who were making money hand over fist as the bubble grew (just like the evil bankers) put a stop to it. Under Bush we saw lower taxes and higher spending, and under Obama we get higher taxes and even higher spending. See the common problem? It’s the spending, stupid.

We cannot spend to get us out of a spending crisis, it makes no sense, and leaves me with the apparent conclusion that Obama does not want to solve this problem. He did not campaign on the economy, he campaigned on social change and this collapse happened late in the game. It should have been a game-changer but instead of figuring out how to fix this mess he has decided on cramming his square peg policies into this round hole problem. Healthcare and green technology have as much to do with solving this mess as invading Iraq had to do with fighting al Qeada. Obama is content on tricking the American public into believing that these non sequitur policies will help fix the issues at hand, all the while ramming through a destructive liberal agenda and spending us back into a bubble that will bust on someone else’s watch. You think this pop was bad wait until these policies catch up with us, I shiver at the thought.

    Dear cannedjam,

Nice try but like most conservative thinkers, you fail to see the creative genius that is embodied by the acts of our newest president.

This move is a pure startegic gem. By, as most main stream news outlets are supportively calling it, “firing” this CEO, the President’s/leprechaun’s (think about it; not only was the White House fountain green on St. Patrick’s Day, but the man can be found at the end of every rainbow! bravado will result in the greatest single day stimulus in US history.

Every freedom loving American will crap his/her pants upon reading the news and flood the dry cleaning market with more soiled laundry than they can handle, thus skyrocketing the equalibrium that is Marshall’s scissors: (A) instantaneosly inflating the cost of said dry cleaning while (B) simultaneously causing all mom and pop laundry mat owners to post job opening adds in the news papers, thus (C) boosting lower and middle clas employment while rejuvinating the print media, which in turn will lead to more jobs, ad revenue, even more jobs….. Oh wait, now I sound like the 40th President.

Hmm, now I’m confused. I’m stuck in a logical lacuna…. OK I got it: “Yeah Obama. Ney evil conservative thinkers!” Beat That savy cannedjam!

Not that I’m totally impressed, but this is more than I expected for when I stumpled upon a link on Furl telling that the info here is quite decent. Thanks.
